Red Hat, Inc. is looking for a few brave hackers to try, test, break,
and experiment on our latest beta release. Featuring Anaconda, a brand
new installation procedure written in Python and featuring both text
and GTK+-based interfaces for your installation pleasure.

LORAX is not meant for casual consumption. Do not take internally.
LORAX may (in fact, is likely to) be harmful or fatal if swallowed.

Warning: Pregnant women, the elderly and children under 10 should avoid
prolonged exposure to LORAX.

Discontinue use of LORAX if any of the following occurs: 

Itching 
Vertigo 
        Dizziness 
        Tingling in extremities
        Loss of balance or coordination 
        Slurred speech 
        Temporary blindness 
        Profuse sweating

Ingredients of LORAX include an unknown glowing substance which fell
to Earth, presumably from outer space.

LORAX is only available for ix86 platforms, and only available via the
Internet. SPARC and Alpha versions will be available in the very near future
(read *after* Labor day!).  Get it now from ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/lorax.

Detto questo, abbiamo provato qui in Cattolica con Giuzzi e Pasquarelli
una installazione su un PC Compaq equipaggiato
con processore Pentium III, scheda video matrox millennium, monitor S700.
Procedura di installazione: boot da CD.

Pregi:
- Il dialogo avviene direttamente in grafica X !!!
- help in linea.
- il dialogo interattivo viene completato prima di iniziare la fase di
  formattazione delle partizioni, dell'installazione pacchetti e la
  fase di postinstallazione, di modo che quando si torna dalla pausa caffe'
  e' tutto fatto.
- E' stata riconosciuta correttamente la scheda video ed anche il monitor (!)
- E' ora possibile gia definire degli utenti in fase di installazione.
- Per LILO si puo' definire il boot di default su partizioni diverse da
  quella linux (ma vedi i problemi qui sotto).

Problemi:
- L'upgrade dalla 6.0 non ha funzionato :-(
- Nonostante la selezione di tastiera italiana, questa viene vista come
  americana, ed anche il sistema installato deve essere sistemato in tal
  senso.
- Il dialogo al momento e' in inglese o in tedesco.
- Dallo schermo di configurazione X non si riesce ad uscire piu' dopo aver
  richiesto il test della configurazione, utilizzando il mouse...
  siamo riusciti nell'intento utilizzando i tasti <TAB> e <ENTER>.
- il file creato di configurazione di LILO non conteneva i dati di boot
  in DOS (ma questo forse andava messo tra i pregi :-) ).
