ora il mistero è:

sul mio pc mint 18 (ubuntu 16) va da dio. Attaccata e partita senza problemi

Ma se mi metto a fare prove con altre distro cheese non la vede, rimane nero

Ho provato qualcosa di più aggiornato (il pc è un i7, posso 
permettermelo): mint 19 (ubuntu 18), ubuntu 19, mint lmde4 (che è debian 
buster) e niente.

Unica altra che funziona è emmabuntus (discro "scolastica" basata su 
Debian (Stable) e Ubuntu (LTS)), anche se non così bene: cheese ci 
impiega un poco a partire e mostrare, e poi va a scatti, mentre con il 
mio mint 18 è perfetta.

Ora: che fare?

Dovrei aggiornare il pc perchè alcuni programmi scolastici hanno fatto 
upgrade e  vogliono una versionepiù aggiornata dei librerie quindi 
dovrei lasciare il mio mint su ubuntu 16.

Potrei copiare quacosa dal mio mint che va e copiarlo negli altri?

In rete ho trovato tante cose ma nessuna indicazione chiara o driver 
eventuali da scaricare.
