Come funziona con un altra interfaccia grafica?
Esite una cosa semplice semplice in ubuntu tipo Afterstep per verificare se
e' solo un problema di gnome?
Esempio:
Freebsd chiede "esplicitamente" se si vuole settare paramentri per
"rpc.statd" ed "rpc.lockd" se il server e' impostato per essere un nfs
server; la non impostazione di questi parametri non permette il
funzionamento corretto di gnome. 

Prova a postare un po' di log... ed infine ricorda che: "Google is your
friend"
