 La porta è "presidiata"?
 Traduz: se dai un "netstat -Nnepa" vedi un output simile a:

 Come vedi la mia è gestita da Xinetd: quando riceve una connection sulla
110 lui fa partire ipop3d:

home:~ # telnet 192.168.10.4 110

quit
+OK Sayonara
Connection closed by foreign host.

 Magari controlla anche che non sia il firewall a bloccarla... non si sa
mai.
