Ciao,

sto ancora cercando di venire a capo del crash che ho avuto qualche 
tempo fa con ili Raid della Adaptec. Ho ricevuto questo (copia in fondo) 
dal support center...
Secondo voi puo' essere plausibile ?
Visto che oggi mi si è verificato di nuovo un dump di tutto cio' che sia 
scsi da parte del kernel, l'ultimo messaggio visibile è:

AIC7xxx_abort return 0x2002

anche nella configurazione in single channel (ricordate che l'host scsi 
controller è un Adaptec 39160, dual channel), mi sono ridotto a mettere 
un controller separato per il disco di sistema.
Quindi, ora, il disco con il sistema operativo è collegato ad un 
controller Adaptec 29160, ed il sistema RAID Durastor è collegato, in 
single channel, al controller Adaptec 39160. Per inciso, hanno entrmabi 
lo stesso driver dal punto di vista del kernel, che adesso vede TRE 
controller :-)

Qualcuno ha qualche illuminazione ?

this is not yet a compatibility list, but just something which came in
my mind concerning the Linux crashes you experienced.

Another thing which might be a big problem in this configuration, is
that each array will be presented twice to the OS if the DuraStor is
attached with two host channels to the same system.
I know that this does not work e.g. in Windows NT or Windows 2000, but
I'm not 100% sure about Linux.
The drives then are detected by the OS and get drive letters assigned.
But now each physical array or partition  is assigned two logical drives
in the OS, which could cause severe problems within the OS, when data
trasnsfer occurs.
Please make sure that your OS or third party sw, which you are probably
using can handle this. Or just avoid dual host channel configurations if
possible (this won't give you a benefit anyway in your Raidconfiguration).
